It was the summer of 2007. Amelia had spent the better part of the first semester of drama school hearing her best frenemy talk about this cute boy named Samuel (in fact, alllll her friends were talking about this cute boy named Samuel, he was kinda the drama school hottie). Well, one night, actually, it was Amelia's best frenemy's birthday, Amelia and Samuel officially met. They had seen each other in passing, said hi maybe once before, but this was the night they met (if you catch my drift). Samuel offered to walk Amelia back to her dorm that evening, and while stopped at the crosswalk, between Tommy's Famous Hamburgers and the entrance to the 101 South, lips drenched in Marlboro Lights and the lingering taste of way too many Rolling Rocks.... they kissed. I mean, does it get any more romantic than that?
Amelia's best frenemy found out about the kiss but she, like, wasn't even mad, "because you two look great together and you're probably going to get married some day". And that might be the only time that bitch was ever right about anything.
But, as many a classic love story goes, with the ups, came the downs, and by the summer of 2008, these two young lovers were calling it quits.
They spent the next 14 years apart. Occasionally running into each other in an acting class or a best frenemy's birthday party, but their lives went in two very different directions. And though this may make Amelia sound a leeeetle crazy, she held onto a glimmer (who are we kidding, it was a mildly delusional amount) of hope that one day she and Samuel might find their way back to each other.
Fast forward to 2022... Amelia and Samuel met for coffee. It was the first time in those 14 years they had both been single and in the same city at the same time. Amelia was certain that this coffee would quickly turn into a proposal because she had only been waiting 14 years for this exact moment, but Samuel, being the more grounded (okay fine, cynical) one, took a bit more time getting to the proposal part.
THREE FREAKING YEARS TO BE EXACT! (If you haven't figured it out yet, Amelia is clearly the one writing this).
Which brings us to now....
A moment 19 years in the making. One that we are incredibly excited to be sharing with a small group of family and friends. It's going to be fun and sappy and silly and of course, there will be pizza.
Here's to first loves and second chances...
